Maria was born in Santa Cruz, California and later pursued her degree in Organismal Biology at Portland State University. During this time she worked in the wild mountains and wetlands of SE Alaska under a mentorship grant with the National Science Foundation. Graduating from PSU with honors and on the cusp of furthering her research as a graduate student, Maria instead followed her dream of living in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Moving to Durango at the beginning of 2008, she accepted a position as a Field Biologist with the Forest Service studying raptors and immersing herself in the rugged and diverse landscape of the four corners. Shortly after moving to Durango, Maria found cycling as one of her favorite pastimes and started competing in the professional racing fields all across the west. Maria is a proud two-time winner of the local Iron Horse Bicycle Classic.
After becoming a mother, Maria began to pursue different facets of business in the area. She decided that she really loved home improvements, design, and the pleasures of simply taking a messy home and making it shine again. Her husband has been in the flooring business for 15 years and they decided to start a business that offered both of their style and expertise to homeowners and vacation rental guests. Maria is a proud mother of three children and understands that owning a home brings pride and security to the entire family. She also understands that buying and selling real estate is an economic decision and often a sentimental one as well. These two principals guided her into Real Estate Sales at Alpenglow Properties. Whether it’s finding the perfect style or size home, the precise location or lot type, or land to build upon, Maria’s innately down to earth personality is easy to collaborate with and her expertise will bring guidance in helping to make the most beneficial decisions for you and your family.
